ROMA: 'Roller shutters and exterior jalousies for French balconies with integrated fall protection'

A French balcony is a nice solution to provide more light and extra ventilation. But there is, of course, a safety aspect associated with such a solution, because fall protection must also be provided. Usually a fence is chosen in this case, but ROMA has developed a solution made of glass.

ROMA's integrated glass parapet is available in combination with shutters or exterior blinds for interior or front construction.

Due to new regulations to prevent heating in summer and heat loss in winter, window frames with a French balcony will also increasingly have to be equipped with a roller shutter, exterior blind or screen. Of course, a specialist like ROMA has solutions for this. What makes ROMA special is that in exterior blinds and shutters for French balconies - both pre-fitted and built-in (surface-mounted) - it can integrate a fall protection made of glass. To attach it, an additional, thick-walled aluminum guide is placed behind the product guide, into which the glass parapet is fastened. Depending on dimensions and wind loads, it is fastened with up to eight screws per meter. The glass parapet can be installed after the installation of the additional guide and roller shutter or exterior blind - and stucco if necessary. This means that - should it ever become necessary unexpectedly - the glass pane can be easily changed without having to dismantle shutters or exterior blinds.

The design of the parapet glass is determined by dimensions, wind loads and whether it is a private or public building. Roma provides the specifications for installation and of the glass to be ordered and provides a certificate for the whole.

The maximum element width for a ROMA shutter or exterior blind with integrated glass parapet is 2400 mm. The system is available immediately. A screen sunshade with integrated parapet will be introduced in early 2020. Since there is also an increasing need for insect protection, ROMA has integrated an insect screen directly into the system.
