With electricity and gas prices rising so much, the demand for roller shutters has increased sharply. At least that is the observation of Peter van der Kamp, co-owner of family business Husol in Genemuiden. According to him, both conventional and solar roller shutters, provide significant energy savings in homes.
More and more consumers are feeling the effects of increased energy prices in their wallets. "People are therefore looking en masse at methods to get their energy bills down," says Peter van der Kamp. "We've been shouting it as an industry for years, but now consumers are finding out by trial and error: roller shutters help to keep it comfortable inside in the fall and winter, allowing the thermostat to be turned down a notch. Roller shutters thus have an important function in home insulation."
One of the most notable trends within the industry is to equip shutters with battery motors with solar panels. This development also contributes significantly to reduced power consumption, Van der Kamp believes. "In this context, it is good to mention that the RS100 io motor, Somfy's whisper-quiet roller shutter motor, has also been on the market in a wireless solar variant since the beginning of this year. Incidentally, it was paramount for us that we would only apply these battery solutions with solar panels if we could guarantee that the quality of these roller shutters would be as high as with our wired motors. Fortunately, that has turned out to be the case."
When it comes to quality, Husol never compromises, Van der Kamp continues. "This is precisely why we have been working with heroal shutters for over thirty years. Besides providing excellent thermal insulation, these shutters offer consumers a number of other important benefits that make it extra interesting for blinds dealers to include them in their product range. For example, they protect the home from rain or noise, serve as sunshades, beautify the home, increase value, protect privacy and are exceptionally quiet in operation. AND the stable aluminum armor is an effective protection against burglary and vandalism."
In addition to energy conservation, sustainability and circular economy are currently hot topics. According to Van der Kamp, Husol is also making every effort to contribute to a cleaner world for future generations. "For example, our shutters have a long lifespan, which ultimately also means that fewer raw materials need to be used for production. Furthermore, we try to be as sustainable as possible throughout our operations. With the 910 solar panels on the roof of our premises, for example, we generate a large part of our own electricity. And with our own fleet of vehicles, we plan our routes as efficiently as possible, thus reducing CO2 emissions. Also, the fact that we buy our materials in bulk means that less transportation is needed."
