Gibus: 'Enjoying the outdoors more comfortably in every season with GLISSE R glass walls'

In order to enjoy outdoor life all year round, even in cooler periods with wind and wetness, it is proving to be an interesting and increasingly popular solution to combine patio covers with glass enclosures. Gibus offers its new GLISSE R sliding glass walls for this purpose.

The frameless GLISSE R glass walls provide almost unlimited visibility.

According to Gibus, the characteristics of GLISSE R are a minimalist design with great transparency, combined with advanced, partially patented technology. The system is designed for enclosing the sides of pergolas from Gibus, but can also be used with patio covers from other brands or for other applications.

GLISSE R has no aluminum frame and works with parallel rails. The system can be equipped with 10 mm tempered glass (standard for glazing up to 2.70 m high) or 12 mm (for solutions from 2.70 to 3 m). GLISSE R is offered in different configurations, with two, three, four or five panels up to a maximum of ten and opening from the side(s) or centrally. In the side-opening version (possible with two, three, four or five panels), GLISSE R can close with five wings up to a width of 7.20 m. The version of the GLISSE R with central opening (possible with four, six, eight or ten panels, with up to five tracks; opening from both sides) even goes up to 14 m wide.

In terms of height, Gibus has a solution up to 3 m with the GLISSE R. This makes this glass door therefore also suitable for larger verandas or canopies or for closures in the hospitality industry, where such heights are not uncommon.

The bottom profiles of the GLISSE R glass walls "grip" around the bottom rail. Also visible is the hook for side locking.

"GLISSE R is the result of Gibus' ongoing R&D efforts," observes Gibus Netherlands general manager Martijn Westenbrink. This glass system has aluminum rails that are "embraced," so to speak, by the glass-bearing bottom profile of the panels. This design idea not only allows the runners to be concealed (single or double, depending on the weight of the panel), but also reduces drafts under the glass panels. GLISSE R has a bottom rail made of anodized aluminum, making it less susceptible to damage than in a painted finish.

The GLISSE R glass wall system meets strict safety standards, according to Gibus. For example, it has an innovative lifting safety device and a locking device with a hook that engages the vertical side profile, locking the locking panel laterally. Gibus has also paid great attention to detailing, such as elegant, rectangular handles made of satin anodized aluminum (standard) on the inside. An additional handle can be added on the outside upon request.

"Like all Gibus solutions, the new GLISSE R glass wall system is distinguished by its solid and reliable construction," Westenbrink said. "This system is also assembly-friendly and easy to adapt to a specific situation."

The alternative: screens

As an interesting alternative to glass doors, while maintaining a view of the outside and providing effective protection against rain, wind and moisture, Gibus also recommends its Click Zip screens in crystal design, with transparent PVC fabric. These can also be used to close off the sides of pergolas, for example. They come in various versions and are suitable for both residential and project applications, such as in the hospitality industry. Thanks to zipper ties, they are just as wind-resistant as glass walls.

"For the exceptional vertical tension of the fabric in Gibus' Click Zip screens, our patented Mag Lock system takes care of it," Westenbrink explains. Inside the front of the blinds is a magnet with a force of 100 Nm that, once the fabric is lowered, grabs a double magnet integrated into the base of the blinds. This technology uses the physical laws of attraction and repulsion between the magnetic poles. It not only keeps Click Zip screens taut, but also gives them a Class 6 wind resistance rating (maximum certifiable level, corresponding to wind speeds over 100 km/h).

The screens can be powder coated in thirty different colors. They can be moved manually or motorized, equipped with a practical remote control. To provide protection from insects, Gibus also offers the Click Zip screens with mosquito netting.
