Spanish machine optimizes cutting process

Husol is betting on digitization and automation in the coming years. One way the manufacturer of sun protection and roller shutters is doing this is with the purchase of a new Matic M1-PC cutting machine. "We have been working with our entire team to restructure our clothing division," says owner Peter van der Kamp. "The installation of our new cutting machine will allow us to work faster and more efficiently and serve our customers even better."

When Husol started a search for a new machine, the name Matic quickly came up, explains Arend van de Wetering. He is responsible for project management at Husol. "We heard that this machine manufacturer makes attractive machines, with features we were looking for, such as ERP integration. So we traveled to Matic's factory in Spain. There we were introduced to the machine in question and also to Jaap de Ruiter, Textile product manager at Nautasign." Nautasign is an official dealer of Matic in the Benelux.

Cutting loss minimized by nesting function

"The Matic M1-PC cutting machine has a lot to offer," Van de Wetering observes. "For example, it has a net cutting width of 350 centimeters and cuts at 1 meter per second. Cutting along both the X and Y axes is also possible. This flexibility and speed are important to us." But perhaps even more important is the digitization and automation Husol achieves with the machine, Van de Wetering explains. "The operator no longer needs to feed the machine and the products are stickered by an integrated label printer. Thanks to the attractive nesting function, the machine optimizes the cutting process. It knows exactly which fabrics are present and how to cut them as efficiently as possible. This minimizes the cutting loss by 10 to 15% and is in line with our objective to be as sustainable as possible in our entire operation."

After choosing the Matic M1-PC cutting machine, Husol worked closely with Jaap de Ruiter for the process of purchase, installation and optimization. "We are always open to innovations," said de Ruiter. "That's why we enjoy working with a company like Husol to further perfect the cutting and confectioning of screens." For a week, de Ruiter, along with two mechanics, was on hand to support the installation. In addition, a seamless integration with Husol's ERP system was established. "We are very pleased with his excellent service and guidance," says Van de Wetering. "We have now been operational for about a month and are still working on optimizing the cutting process here and there. De Ruiter is thinking along with us about that. Matic can make remote adjustments to the machine. This is often taken care of within an hour, so that's very pleasant. All that makes us very satisfied with the Matic M1-PC cutting machine!"
