Gibus: 'New 2023 awning fabric collection is eco-friendly and up-to-date'

Gibus presents its 2023 collection of blinds fabrics as versatile, high quality and a tribute to beauty and sustainability. The fabrics are made with recycled materials, have new textures with material effects, in trendy colors and with useful properties to improve thermal and visual comfort and maximize energy savings.

Not only in indoor but also outdoor spaces - whether in a residential, business or hospitality setting - fabrics perform an important function by providing quality, beauty and a certain style. In shading systems, the choice of a fabric has another function - not only an aesthetic one, but also a functional one to meet targeted needs in terms of thermal and visual comfort, durability and energy efficiency. From this perspective, Gibus presented its new collection this year.

"Our cloth collection presented this year is broad and versatile, up-to-date and in line with today's key trends," says Gibus Netherlands general manager Martijn Westenbrink. "These are awning fabrics from leading European manufacturers selected for their special combination of beauty and functionality. With different types of materials, they meet the most diverse needs and improve thermal and visual comfort, energy savings, privacy and even offer protection against water, insects or fire. In addition, they are easy to clean and durable."

The second line of the Gibus cloth collection also includes screen cloths.

The new Gibus cloth collection will be divided into two lines, polyester and acrylic on the one hand and technical textiles on the other. The first line contains 338 cloths, including polyester, acrylic and recycled materials, while the second consists of 36 cloths, including waterproof, fireproof and screen cloths.

"The Gibus fabric collection for 2023 is designed for the European market," Westenbrink said. "A new generation of fabrics has been chosen, made with less aggressive chemicals, which is therefore more durable and better for the environment. A line of cloths made from recycled materials has also been introduced. Among other things, recycled PET bottles and residual materials from textile production are used for the cloths in this line."

Gibus places special emphasis on new cloths with higher levels of fire resistance, including a range of Class 1 fabrics suitable for use in public areas. They are more fire-resistant than the other Gibus fabrics that are Class 2 fire-resistant. "In addition, of course, we also considered the aesthetic aspect by including in the collection canvases in exclusive colors and with attractive pleasing patterns and interesting material effects," Westenbrink emphasizes.
