Black is a striking new trend in awning country 

Proven successes also part of program in 2024 

If there is one industry that is dynamic, and often even unpredictable, it is the sun protection industry. But at the same time, something that catches on in the market is also something that usually sticks around for a long time. At Rainbowsol in Leerdam, they know all about it. Think of the Limited Edition concept. Robert Bosch, responsible for sales at Rainbowsol, talks about it. "For 2024 we are sticking to the program and actions that have proved successful in recent years, but of course we are also connecting to an important current trend and that is the color black." 

Robert is referring to the introduction of the color RAL 9005 textured that will be available this season as a test for the Ibiza Plus and Rainbowsol zipscreens. "We are talking about real black, in addition to the already existing colors anthracite textured, Star Grey and Sparkling Black. This is because we see a clear trend in the market, where Sparkling Black is sometimes still not black enough." 

According to Robert, this trend is not all that surprising. "There is a clear shift towards black accents in both the interior and exterior. Logically, then, you end up with shading systems. That is where we are now connecting. If the introduction of RAL 9005 structure catches on, we will consider making this color option available for just about the entire range, but that will be something for next year."

One of the best-selling awnings in the Rainbow Collection is the Ibiza Plus. This screen is now also available in RAL 9005 textured.

Proven successes

Robert goes on to say that some promotions from previous years will be repeated in 2024. "For example, the photo action will continue, where customers who have purchased a sun protection product from our brand are invited to upload photos of their purchase via our website. We then use these photos for our own marketing and communications. But, it also offers consumers the chance to win back - part of - the purchase amount. Moreover, every month a bol.com voucher of 250 euros will be awarded to the best photos of the month. The number of photos we received in 2022 and 2023 was very large and, moreover, often of high quality!"

Furthermore, from the Q series, the Q230 and Q240 models are once again temporarily supplied with free dimmable LED lighting and a SOMFY io-light receiver. "This promotion ran beyond expectations last year," says Robert. "We have also put the special promotion around the Ibiza Plus, which we can supply from stock in four color combinations of trimming and fabric, on the program again this year starting in April for the rest of the season. These are the widths 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5 m, with a 3 m projection."

Cloth samples

Finally, Robert says that the consumer site will soon allow consumers to order fabric samples. "Individuals who are considering purchasing an awning from the Rainbow Collection will have the opportunity to request fabric samples. We will send them by mail. This way consumers can feel the fabric and see the colors in real life. We are convinced that they will then seek out a dealer in their area to talk further."

Given all the action, it is therefore all hands on deck at the headquarters in Leerdam. Robert has to laugh: "Yes, it's always the familiar rush prior to the season. But we are completely ready. Let the 2024 season begin!"
