Elumatec presents the SBZ 125/85, the SBZ 118 and the SBZ 155

Closed cab machine

The SBZ 125/85 is an enclosed cab machine with a machining range of 8245, 300 and 230 mm on X, Y and Z axes, respectively. The machine has five CNC axes, a water-cooled milling spindle with a speed of up to 20,000 rpm and a 12-position automatic magazine. All operations, such as sawing, milling, drilling and tapping, are performed on a stationary clamped profile. "Thanks to dynamic pendulum operation, this machine can machine pieces on one side while the operator feeds new profiles on the other. In addition, long workpieces that extend beyond the center of the machine can still be machined," indicates managing director Bas Ladestein of elumatec Benelux BV. "The new rotatable control console simplifies the operator's task and an innovative technology reduces tool change times, resulting in faster setup and increased flexibility. Adjustment of clamps for fixturing profiles has also been simplified and optimized. Sliding material clamps on the Y axis improve ergonomics when inserting profiles. The clamp automatically switches between loading and machining position. In addition, the machine can be converted to other profile widths and shapes without tools. A programmable laser with three-zone layout provides access protection. Optionally, a tension conveyor can be integrated, allowing coarse chips and profile parts to fall immediately into a bin, keeping the interior of the machine clean."

Entry-level model with full functionality

For start-ups or smaller manufacturing companies looking for a small and compact entry-level machine, elumatec offers its 3-axis profile machining center SBZ 118 with optional 5-sided machining. "This machine has a machining length of 3200 mm and is equipped with an air-cooled 5 kW milling spindle with a speed of up to 24,000 rpm," explains the managing director. "Although it has a minimal footprint, it still provides full functionality for milling, drilling, tapping and roughing. Automated CNC machining is performed up to five sides with an optional right-angle milling head and rave milling. The proven technology of the inclined machine bed, freely accessible spindle, height-adjustable control console and mobile 5-way tool changer increase comfort. The new transparent protective cover and the operation of the material clamps via a wireless push button guarantee safe operation at all times, even for larger operators. A service door on the side facilitates setup and maintenance of the machine."

Top model SBZ 155

As the first 5-axis gantry machine, the SBZ 155 profile machining center sets new standards in automated CNC machining of aluminum and thin-walled steel profiles. Users benefit from short tool change times that guarantee optimum machining cycles. "The large, mobile tool magazines can be equipped with fourteen standard tools. In addition, depending on the individual configuration, six special tools and two saw blades of 200 and 550 mm diameter can also be provided," says Ladestein. "The version as a gantry machine and the working area with two machining zones allow the feeding and machining of profiles with cross sections up to 1000 x 380 mm, as well as flexible working in shuttle operation. Six-sided machining and the space-saving gantry drive are two important features of this machine. As for individual customer requirements, no wishes remain unfulfilled either: from bilateral automatic length measurement, tool length measurement and tool breakage control to the barcode scanner."
