The ROMA booth at BAU

A déjà vu moment

The construction fair BAU, held in Munich from April 17 to 22, profiled itself as the "international meeting place for the building of tomorrow. "ROMA KG adopted that motto during the fair," says Toon van Osta of ROMA Benelux. "Not only with our products, but also with a new booth concept."

Visitors to the last edition of Polyclose in Ghent, late August-early September 2022, would have had a déjà vu experience in Munich. "After all, in Ghent we presented the new booth concept to the general public for the first time," van Osta said. "It was very well received then and that convinced us that we could successfully deploy this concept afterwards as well. So the practical test at Polyclose was followed up at BAU. With the difference that ROMA in Munich of course had a mega-sized booth: Polyclose in the superlative."

"As could also be seen in Ghent, the new stand concept emphasizes experience. Technology remains important, of course, but there is less focus on that now. And the colors have also changed. Where it used to be all dark wood, the new stand concept combines black with light-colored wood."

New

ROMA would not be ROMA if a number of novelties were not also presented at BAU. First, ROMA has a new color concept that focuses on color fastness. ROMA now supplies its products as standard in HWF (Hochwetterfest) finishes. "This means that the colors of ROMA products are now three times more colorfast than what is standard in the market," notes Van Osta.

A second new feature is that from now on the slats of ROMA's exterior blinds (Raffstoren) will no longer be finished in a gloss paint, but in a matte paint. "The advantage is that this makes them less susceptible to dirt and scratches and also more colorfast, which means they stay beautiful longer."

Finally, a third piece of news is that ROMA has introduced a narrow side guide for its shutters. Side guides are cold bridges, which, in today's penchant for insulation and preventing heat loss - and thus CO2 emissions - is of course a disadvantage. That's why they figured out at ROMA that a narrow guide is better. Less thermal bridge function and therefore less heat loss in winter.

ROMA's new products introduced at BAU 2023 will certainly be featured in future issues of Z&R.
