The jury of the fifth edition of the competition "Building of the Year with Systems from Aluprof" has been announced

The most impressive buildings with ALUPROF solutions will be selected by renowned architects and representatives of the construction industry

Entries for the fifth edition of the international competition "Building of the Year with Systems from Aluprof" began May 6. The purpose of the competition is to identify the most attractive projects using the systems of the market leader in architectural aluminum systems. As usual, the jury will consist of leading architects. The jury will be chaired by Przemo Łukasik of Medusa Group, a multiple award-winning architect. Together with other prominent architects, he will select the best projects with ALUPROF solutions

The well-known and respected architects and construction industry representatives on the 2024 jury are Maciej Franta, Karol Fiedor, Bożenna Wawrzyniak-Mańko, Elżbieta Dziubak and Zbigniew Poraj. Przemo Łukasik, co-founder of the well-known architecture firm Medusa Group, will lead their discussions. Medusa Group has completed iconic projects such as the .KTW office complex in Katowice, awarded the 2022 SARP (Association of Polish Architects) Prize for an office, educational or government building, the Nobu Hotel in Warsaw, which won a 2023 World Luxury Hotel Award in three categories, and Poznań's New Market Square. The .KTW office complex and the Nobu Hotel Warsaw were both previously awarded in the "Building of the Year with Systems from Aluprof" competition. The former won second place in 2018 and the latter was second in 2022, when .KTW 2 was among the top 10.

Maciej Franta will represent the voice of the new generation of architects. Winner of the prestigious Europe 40 Under 40® program, he is known for his innovative and socially conscious designs for residential, public and commercial buildings. One of his most acclaimed projects is Villa Reden in Chorzów, which has won several awards, including best project of 2022 according to the editors of Archilovers.com; it is the only building in Poland selected in this category. It also received the award for "Excellent Architecture" at the German Design Awards, organized by the German Design Council, and received a nomination for "Building of the Year 2022" by the architecture magazine "ArchDaily."

Karol Fiedor, founder of the architectural firm CDF Architekci in Poznań and a member of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Architects, will also be on the jury evaluating this year's entries. In 2015, his design for the UBIQ business park in Poznań won the SARP award for the best building in a protected zone.

Bożenna Wawrzyniak-Mańko of the Düsseldorf-based architecture firm RKW Architektur+ will also be on the jury. RKW's portfolio includes notable projects such as the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk and the urban and architectural development of the northern tip of the island "Wyspa Spichrzów" in Gdańsk.

Elżbieta Dziubak, chief architect at ALUPROF SA, and Zbigniew Poraj, an independent expert with years of experience advising boards of major construction companies in Poland, will also be on the jury.

A prestigious competition recognized in Poland and worldwide

The competition " Building of the Year with Systems from Aluprof" is an event that enjoys great respect within the industry and is appreciated both in Poland and internationally. The approximately six hundred buildings entered in the four previous editions are located in different countries, including Poland, the United States, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and Belgium. The list of winners includes prestigious and admired buildings such as the .KTW office complex in Katowice, the Faculty of Modern Languages and the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the University of Warsaw, the Nobu Hotel in Warsaw, the Warsaw Brewery Complex, Cedet, Green2day in Wrocław, Sara Kulturhus in Skellefteå, Sweden, and Dock 72 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The status of the competition "Building of the Year with Systems from Aluprof" is confirmed by the fact that more and more buildings from Poland and abroad are entered for each new edition. In 2022, there were more than 200 entries. Many of them are true gems of contemporary architecture that not only stand out for their design and functionality, but also won important international awards. At the same time, it should be emphasized that they are often designs by renowned architectural firms such as Maćków Pracownia Projektowa, Medusa Group, Kuryłowicz & Associates and AMC - Andrzej M. Chołdzyński.

A unique event as part of an international debate on the future of the construction industry

The "Building of the Year with Systems from Aluprof" competition is designed to distinguish the most interesting buildings using ALUPROF solutions. Buildings built between January 1, 2022 and June 30, 2024 can be submitted using the form at future-builders.com/konkurs. The deadline for entry is June 30, 2024. The results of the competition will be announced at an awards ceremony on Oct. 16, 2024, at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Warsaw. The event will be preceded by the prestigious Future Builders conference, where leading architects, urban planners, building industry representatives, sociologists and other experts from Poland and the rest of the world will share their insights and experiences on the future development of global architecture in the context of sustainable construction. Among the panelists from previous Future Builders events were prominent figures such as Bogdan Zaha of the famous architecture firm Zaha Hadid, Álvaro Leite Siza Vieira, Jacek Ewý, Przemo Łukasik, Robert Konieczny, Zbigniew Maćków and Tomasz Konior.
