SELVE: 'Powerful drives are the new SELVE solutions during R+T'

SELVE announces the expansion of its range of drives with innovative solutions. The R+T is the appropriate stage for this, according to the company. One example is the new generation of drives SELVE Intelligence (SI), according to SELVE quiet and with variable speeds. Another example is the new solar solution with commeo radio control to drive shutters completely autonomously. As a first, SELVE presents the SEZ-NHK with freewheel. This new drive makes it possible to apply motorized zipscreens also in escape and escape routes.

The R+T has traditionally been of great importance to SELVE, which is why the specialist from Lüdenscheid is presenting these three special innovations there, according to product managers Tino Braumann and Dirk Wrobel, who have been involved in the development of these concepts from the beginning. 

I as in 'intelligence'

The name of the completely newly developed generation of drives was chosen for a reason: SELVE Intelligence (SI) is based on a new drive concept based on a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and essentially combines two key advantages, product managers say. SI motors are quiet and have different motion speeds. At R+T, the SI Pro-com, the new SI radio drive for roller shutters, will be presented for the first time. "The SI Pro-com moves a roller shutter particularly quietly and has the option of actively reducing the movement speed from fast to slow before the stop in the end position to contribute to an additional noise reduction," explains Braumann. "In addition, our developers have also designed a new, quiet brake." 

The intelligent aspects of SI concept already become apparent in the automatic learning phase, Braumann continues. "The SI Pro-com adapts its movement profile and the corresponding speed control to the roller shutter. This means that the drive reduces its speed to 6 rpm during the opening and closing of the slats when noise can occur and increases its speed to 17 rpm in the other phases." 

Almost noiseless

"With a wall switch or a remote control, the entire motion sequence can be performed at reduced speed," Braumann continues. "The shutter then opens and closes almost silently." Furthermore, the SI Pro-com has the same setting options as the SE Pro: up, down, ready, and functions such as obstacle detection and overload protection are also included." 

SELVE has high hopes for the introduction of the SI Pro-com during 2024. There will also be an SIZ-com that is completely tailored to zipscreens. 

Completely self-sufficient with the SE Solar-com

SELVE will also show a solar solution at the R+T. "Especially because of the growing demand from abroad," says Dirk Wrobel: "Thanks to our new solar solution with commeo, shutters can be motorized completely independently and self-sufficiently." 

The solar set consists of the bi-directional radio-controlled motor SE Solar-com with battery and solar panel mounted on the shutter box or facade. "The special feature of the SELVE solution is that we also offer an external charging connection as an additional option, for example, if there is insufficient sunlight for an extended period during the winter months. Via the charging connection installed in the guide rail, the battery can be charged without any problems." 

The official product launch of the SE Solar-com will also take place at the Stuttgart fair. Dirk Wrobel sees great market potential for it, particularly because it can be used as a quick and cost-effective solution for retrofitting. "It makes a shutter self-sufficient and thus independent of the mains. Useful for places where a power connection is difficult or even impossible." 

SEZ-NHK with freewheel

Thanks to SELVE's SEZ-NHK, motorized zipscreens can be used for the first time in second escape and escape routes. This is because in the event of a power failure or power outage, the screens can be operated manually with a turn rod. "An installed freewheel ensures reliable operation in the event of an emergency," Wrobel emphasizes. "Because by doing so, the zipscreen can be moved with the hand crank only in the correct upward direction!"

SELVE profiles itself as a specialist for the second escape and escape route and has included this solution for the R+T in its portfolio. "In everyday life, the SEZ-NHK guarantees ease of use, but in emergencies it functions mechanically," Wrobel said. "Installation is easy and operation is intuitive. Not only is the SEZ-NHK an absolute first as an emergency control for zipscreens, but the newly developed freewheel is also an important selling point. That SEZ-NHK will be marketed after the R+T. By the way, the freewheel has been nominated for the innovation prize of the R+T 2024 and can be used for all drives with an emergency crank. This feature can also be easily retrofitted, so also with the roller shutter drive SEE-NHK."
