SATTLER, one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance sun protection textiles, is proud to unveil its new design, the Elements OEKO WEAVE "Climate Stripe," developed exclusively for R+T 2024.
Designed especially for the fair, this design presents a creative connection of aesthetics and environmental awareness. The stripe design reflects the pressing issues of climate change and recalls the changing environmental conditions on earth. The "Climate Stripe" is thus fully in line with the theme of R+T 2024: Create. Sustainable. Future.
The visual representation of global warming has reached a new creative dimension thanks to the innovative Elements OEKO WEAVE "Climate Stripe," an exclusive production by SATTLER in collaboration with the R+T Alliance. The template for this unique design comes from renowned British climate scientist Ed Hawkings of the University of Reading, who first published the "Climate Stripes" in 2018. The climate stripes were developed to visualize temperature data from a particular region over time in an easy-to-understand way. Similar to a timeline, the stripe on the far left shows the furthest back year, while the far right shows the most recent data available. The color of the line reflects the deviation of the average temperature from a reference period in the years from 1881 (depending on the region) to today, with blue representing a lower average temperature and red representing a higher average temperature compared to the reference period.
The saturation of the red and blue hues on the climate stripes provides information about the strength of temperature variations. Cornelia Pongritz, head of the design team at Sattler SUN-TEX GmbH, used this inspiration to create the Elements OEKO WEAVE "Climate Stripe" as an awning fabric. The "Climate Stripe" will be presented at the R+T fair in Stuttgart, giving visitors the opportunity to experience this innovative design up close. SATTLER is looking forward to welcoming experts and interested visitors to the SATTLER booth (Hall 1, Stand 1C72) and presenting the unique design and sustainable properties of the cloth. As a special treat, there will be the opportunity to get your hands on bags in this special design at the R+T Fair 2024.
The Elements OEKO WEAVE "Climate Stripe" not only symbolizes sustainability, but embodies it in every fiber. The new, sustainable quality Elements OEKO WEAVE is a fabric that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also meets the highest environmental standards and is OEKO-TEX® Made in Green certified.
Elements OEKO WEAVE for 30% consists of ReUse fibers, which in combination with other technically high-quality elements ensure a durable product. Ibrahim Türköz, Managing Director for Development & Production at Sattler SUN-TEX, explains: "For our new product, we use high-quality acrylic fibers that would normally be discarded in the normal production process due to their lack of color purity. Thanks to the 'Cross Fibre Process,' we are giving these fibers a new life. As the second highest level in the European Union's waste pyramid, reuse/ReUse is even preferable to recycling. This product was developed as part of our overall sustainability project, The Green Chain."
The Elements OEKO WEAVE "Climate Stripe" therefore not only combines modern design and innovative technology, but also sends a clear message in favor of responsible and sustainable product development.
"The Elements OEKO WEAVE "Climate Stripe" features SATTLER's new PFAS-free recipe. Thanks to the investments SATTLER has made in recent years, we are proud to be one of the pioneers in our industry and to eliminate the problematic ingredient from our recipe," explains Thomas Morokutti - Manager Fabric Finishing and Coating. The decision to develop PFAS-free formulations reflects SATTLER's commitment to environmentally friendly applications and the promotion of sustainable technologies. "SATTLER's PFAS-free technology offers numerous benefits, including reduced environmental impact and ensuring products meet the highest quality and environmental standards. SATTLER remains true to its mission to make a positive impact on the environment and industry through continued innovation."
Manfred Heissenberger, CEO of Sattler SUN-TEX, comments on the company's current and future activities: "As a family business , led by now the fifth generation, the future of the next generations is particularly important to us. Our efforts for sustainable products, processes and developments interlock like the links of a chain and are reinforced by our continuous improvement measures in energy, waste and water management. Attention to all details in the production chain, right down to our customers, is necessary to ensure that sustainability is not just a buzzword, but is actively put into practice. We summarize all these efforts and activities in our "Green Chain." Our presence at R+T is therefore entirely dedicated to this group-wide concept."
