Nice, the home automation specialist, is expanding its offering with two new smart garage motors. The Spider motor takes center stage as the premium solution, distinguished by advanced technology and unique features that go beyond just opening and closing a garage door. Both motors are designed with a strong focus on connectivity within the Yubii® ecosystem.
The Spider motor represents the latest step in smart home automation. What makes this motor unique, according to Tania Carlet, Door Automation Product Manager, is its built-in Wi-Fi functionality, which allows it to connect directly to the Yubii® ecosystem without the need for additional modules or gateways. "Users only need to download the Yubii app to manage their Spider motor remotely. The previous model did not have this module, which now gives the Spider a clear edge in ease of use."
The Spider motor is available in two different variants: 800N and 1200N. The latter is suitable for sectional doors up to 16.9 m² and up-and-over doors up to 19.5 m². This model features Brushless technology, which guarantees power and durability. With the ability to run as many as 150 cycles per day, this is one of the strongest and most efficient motors on the market, according to the company. The brushless motor also reduces wear and tear, which reduces maintenance and extends the life of the motor. This means more convenience for both the installer and the end user.
Another innovation of the Spider motor is the Eye Check system, which provides visual feedback on the status of the garage door using colored LED lights. Green light means everything is working properly, while red light indicates maintenance is needed. If the red light is flashing, then there is a specific problem that requires the assistance of an installer. These visual alerts are not only visible on the engine itself, but are also sent to the user via the Yubii app. As Carlet notes, "These visual cues give the user more control and allow problems to be addressed early, which sets the Spider apart from its competitors."
The integration of the Spider motor within the Yubii® ecosystem is a significant improvement for homeowners looking to fully automate their homes. This connection is possible with both models, but the built-in Wi-Fi allows the Spider 1200N to communicate directly with other smart devices, such as lights, security systems and thermostats. Carlet emphasizes that this system is fully manageable through the app: "Whether it's the garage door, lighting or other devices, the whole system works seamlessly together."
Security is a top priority in smart home networks. The Spider engine is therefore equipped with a secure radio protocol that prevents unwanted access. "We have a dedicated team working to ensure the security of our products," says Carlet. "Our engines use a high level of security to ensure that unwanted access is prevented." There are also plans to further improve the Spider engine, with a strong focus on energy efficiency. A planned update for next year will further reduce standby power consumption, with a goal of just 0.5 watts.
