CORNELS: 'This is the best retractable slat roof on the market'

Earlier this year, the CORNELS label launched the NEXT GENERATION line. This is a range consisting of existing products with high standards that have been further developed. "The retractable slat roof NEXT GENERATION POLLUX CORNELS® Elite series is thus the best retractable slat roof on the market," states Cornelis Nieuwenhuis, director and founder of CORNELS. Time to take a closer look at this roof.

"Thanks to the innovations in NEXT GENERATION line, the quality of our retractable slat roof has been greatly increased. And that while our standards were already very high. The innovations are therefore unprecedented," Cornelis says enthusiastically. The technical features of these product innovations are therefore gladly pointed out. 

"The coating is applied after sawing. This reduces the risk of oxidation," Cornelis says. "In addition, the retracted slat package is only 20%, there are special cable channels and there is a so-called snow load guarantee of up to 365 kilograms per square meter. Furthermore, it is storm-proof up to wind force 11 Beaufort, when opened as a closed system. Of course, it is customized: the dimensions are 4.5 x 7.62 meters per module."

"Furthermore, there are unlimited linkable modules, it is lockable with various glass systems, louvers and screens. Do not forget the dimmable integrated LED lighting (white and hidden RGB) and the system is equipped with Somfy IO motors. What I definitely also want to mention is the great ease of installation. And not unimportant: this retractable slat roof is attractively priced."

According to Cornelis, some of the aforementioned characteristics stand out particularly. "These therefore deserve additional explanation," he says.

Coating after sawing

"For this redesigned POLLUX, our production process has been reversed. First, all aluminum parts are cut to size and only then coated. Among other things, this means there is much less chance of oxidation," the CORNELS director explains enthusiastically.  

Retracted slat package only 20%.

"The user always wants as large an opening as possible when they choose a retractable slat roof. With POLLUX this is even 80% and that makes the roof extra attractive. In addition, the slats can be stopped at any opening with the retracting, thus ensuring beautiful light and shadow lines even when the roof is partially open." 

Special cable trays

"With our NEXT GENERATION POLLUX, we use special cable trays mounted at the top of the gutter to neatly place all the cables. This way we avoid a tangle of cables lying in the water and dirt that is drained through the gutters to the uprights. By the way, all the PVC for the rainwater drainage is always included in the already attractively priced POLLUX," Cornelis concludes.
