ROMA, of course, is not a manufacturer or supplier of drives and controls, but this reputable manufacturer of shutters, screens and outdoor blinds does have news about motors and accessories used in its own products.
For front shutters, the RS100 SOLAR io is only available in ROMA's new extrusion cabinets. "We have chosen to make solar also possible in a P-extrusion cabinet," says Toon van Osta of ROMA Benelux about this. "This does limit the height somewhat, as indicated in the height tables."
The RS100 SOLAR io is also available in the XP cabinet. Then there is no height restriction. However, if an XP cabinet with an insect screen is chosen, the height is again limited. An insect screen is not possible in combination with a Rondo box. ROMA can supply all desired slat types and therefore even go up to 4 m wide. Currently, the strongest available motor is 15 Nm. A 20 Nm motor will be added at the end of the year.
Normally, the sun protection technician is used to the fact that the battery must always be connected with a solar system. This is not necessary with the RS100 SOLAR io. If the solar panel sees no light for 36 hours, it automatically switches to a power saving mode. However, a Smoove or Situo 1 transmitter must always be taught in at the factory to activate this energy-saving mode. A 1-channel hand or wall transmitter are therefore always required with the solar solution with the RS100 io motors.
ROMA is currently applying an Oximo SOLAR io motor in its solar zipSCREENS. "Because of this motor's maximum torque of 10 Nm, we can only make a zipSCREEN of up to 2500 x 2600 mm," said Van Osta. "We are also currently testing out the RS100 SOLAR io motor for our zipSCREENS, and the first tests look good! If the new RS 100 SOLAR io motor also becomes available for the zipSCREENS, we could move toward a maximum width of 4000 mm. Because we use a roller shutter motor in a zipSCREEN, it does not operate on a wind meter. That is also not really necessary for the ROMA screen because they can handle up to wind force 11!"
Elero has improved its solar panel and that includes ROMA's application. The panel's dimensions have been reduced from 614 x 98 x 44 mm to 530 x 80 x 50 mm. Water tightness has also been optimized. Since the panel has no top or bottom, mounting in any position is possible. "The solar solution from elero can be a solution for ROMA if, for example, Somfy does not offer any options in terms of dimensions or possibilities - for outdoor blinds, for example," concludes Toon van Osta.
