With its drives and controls for roller shutters and awnings, "made in Germany," BECKER-BENELUX has been offering solutions that make living, living and working easier worldwide since 1921. Both in the private sector and in large-scale utility projects, clients are increasingly choosing automated roller shutters and blinds. In doing so, BECKER-BENELUX integrates its SMI tube motors into a KNX environment, the worldwide standard for building automation.
A building's blinds are often controlled centrally, not least to regulate the indoor climate as well as possible. Important to prevent overheating and to keep energy consumption low. The use of SMI tube motors - SMI stands for Standard Motor Interface - plays a decisive role here. Indeed, according to the BECKER-BENELUX team, these motors are ideally suited for integration into a KNX environment: "These motors offer numerous advantages, including easy installation, various control options, very precise status reporting, automatic fabric compensation, fabric relief and blocking recognition. They are also energy-efficient and comfortable."
BECKER-BENELUX stands out in particular because it has an SMI actuator in its product range that is used in conjunction with shutters and awnings. "A major advantage of this SMI actuator is that the sixteen drives that can be controlled with it at most are connected in parallel and controlled via a five-wire connecting cable," says the BECKER-BENELUX team. "This significantly reduces the amount of cabling required and also significantly reduces installation work - and therefore costs. An additional advantage of the SMI technology is that it can be very easily linked to popular mobile devices, such as, for example, the Bluetooth app available for free from Google Play and the Apple App Store."
SMI drives are available in several types: P (Ø38 mm), R (Ø45 mm) and L (Ø58 mm). These include tubular motors from 5 to 120 Nm for both indoor and outdoor blinds and shutters. "The great thing is that no external KNX module is required, as it is already integrated into the SMI motors. Moreover, the motors are user-friendly, making it easy for the shading specialist to adjust them himself. In short, with its advanced drives and controls, BECKER makes automating project blinds significantly easier," says the BECKER-BENELUX team.
BECKER's tube motors are designed to be integrated into many applications. "For every home automation situation, they offer a reliable and durable solution," states the BECKER-BENELUX team. The latest generation of tube motors from BECKER is called Centronic Plus. They work bidirectionally, which means the current status of the devices can always be queried via the app. As with most of BECKER's solutions, these new tube motors are compatible with the existing transmitters and motors of the Centronic program. Also new to the Centronic program is the home control unit CC41, which allows applications in the home to be easily controlled with the BECKER app, smartphone, tablet or control panel, and even to be controlled from anywhere in the world.
