"We had many good conversations at the fair," says BREL HOME director Erik Budding at the company's booth. "In addition to existing relationships, we were able to get to know many new customers at the R+T, who, among other things, were very interested in our story about connectivity." Indeed, at the trade fair BREL told about the integration of the Matter protocol and the new IoT solar solution in cooperation with Vodafone.
"For end users, it is ideal that all products can communicate with each other," Budding explains. "Yet many companies do not offer a solution for existing products. We would like to do that differently." That is why BREL is developing a Matter module for all existing motors for indoor blinds. This is an important addition for customers, Budding stresses, as BREL products can then work seamlessly with other smart home devices, such as thermostats, lighting systems, and security cameras, using platforms like Amazon's Alexa, Apple Homekit, or Google Home. However, the BREL HOME app or remote control will still be needed to set the motor.
At the R+T, BREL HOME also presented the BREL SMART BUILDING IoT solar motor system for screens. It was developed in cooperation with IoT specialist SPINNOV and Vodafone Business. "This system is a complete, energy-efficient, easy-to-install IoT solution for project blinds," Budding said. "These motors are unique for several reasons, including the use of solar panels for charging, the Vodafone SIM card for stable connectivity, and the comprehensive IoT platform for motor control and management of thousands of devices."
With BREL SMART BUILDING's control system, BREL says it has never been easier to install, program and manage project blinds. "With a specially developed app and software, scenarios can easily be created, in all kinds of ways, at all levels of the organization and at all desired decision levels," Budding says. "Maintenance shifts from reactive to preventive. By logging into the system, one can check from the office whether the blinds are still functioning properly."
In addition to advanced technology, BREL also emphasizes usability and reliability. "The installation of our products is simple, allowing users to quickly enjoy smart blinds and shutters without hassle," Budding believes. "In addition, our products are known for their durability and robustness. They can withstand various weather conditions and daily use. Our new solar motors feature frost protection, which adds to their longevity. In addition, they also have obstacle detection at the bottom and top for the same reason."
