The terrace of the brewery Kaiser Konstantin in Cologne-Deutz (Germany) offers a breathtaking view of the old town, the cathedral and the Rhine. With a freshly tapped Kölsch beer, guests enjoy traditional German and Mediterranean dishes here - regardless of sun, wind or rain. This is made possible by the Perea P70 terrace canopy by Warema.

While the interior of the brewery on Kennedy-Ufer 1 is simple and modern, the outdoor space offers spectacular views of the Cologne skyline. Effective sun protection on the terrace is essential for the well-being of guests. The previous solution could only be used to a limited extent due to its wind sensitivity and unprotected location, which negatively impacted sales. It also covered only a small portion of the terrace.

That is why the brewery chose Warema's Perea P70 pergola awning. It consists of two single installations, each with a width of five meters and a drop depth of four meters. The 40-square-meter space accommodates a total of about 30 people. "Pergola awnings are particularly stable thanks to their uprights," says Rolf Bergmann of Markisen Bergmann GmbH in Cologne. "The electrically powered Perea P70 is characterized by its contra-pull technology via toothed belts. This keeps the fabric taut at all times and ensures high wind stability up to wind force 7." The fabric is also kept under tension by trailing reinforcement profiles, which ensures well-regulated drainage of rainwater. The front cross frames are designed as fully integrated drainage channels and direct the water to the outer uprights, where it is drained downward.

Rolf Bergmann and his son Raoul planned the patio cover and assembled it with their team. Attaching the uprights to the concrete edge of the flower beds in front of the terrace proved difficult. After consulting with Warema, Bergmann had the sun protection specialist's technicians make special elements that ensure a sturdy and durable fastening.

Outdoor catering even in changeable weather

Thanks to the weather-resistant fabric of the awning, it is now possible to serve outside even in changeable weather. This not only increases the catering space, but also enables the brewery to respond more flexibly to customer requests. The Perea P70 is equipped with the high-quality, waterproof awning fabric Soltis W96. What is remarkable about this Rainproof textile is that, despite its high level of waterproofing, it is highly transparent and therefore enables a cozy atmosphere with plenty of natural light. Even in bright sunlight, the fabric ensures pleasant temperatures on the terrace by blocking up to 97 percent of UV rays. When partially opened, the system impresses with its visually attractive folding technology. Fully retracted, the fabric is reliably protected from the weather.

At the front of the system, vertical awnings with easyZIP guidance offer protection from low sun, rain and wind if necessary. The translucent screen fabric made of screen fabric is extremely wind-resistant and offers a sure view of the Rhine and the city across the street. The consistent design of all components emphasizes the high quality of the installation and underlines the high standards of brewery gastronomy.

Fulfilling the client's wishes with an atmospheric and flexible arrangement

In the evening, when the lights of the old city and the bridges are reflected in the water, the Rhine unfolds a very special charm. Dimmable LED rails attached to the moving cross profiles of the awning create an atmospheric ambience on the terrace. They can be easily controlled by radio using the WMS Hand transmitter plus. This not only allows you to adjust the lighting, but also the individual retracting and extending of the individual awnings.

At the Kaiser Konstantin, people especially appreciate the new planning security for larger events and greater flexibility. Even on warm days it is pleasant to sit on the terrace, and binding reservations can be made in bad weather. Strong winds on the banks of the Rhine pose no problem for the construction.
