Since 2022, 'Weingut Kopp' near Baden-Baden no longer attracts visitors only because of its exclusive wines, but also because of the gourmet regional dishes in the new restaurant 'Ebanat'. And that with a spectacular view of the vineyards and the Rhine Valley. A Markilux screen system that is color-coordinated with the architecture of the distinctive building provides appropriate shade.
In 2020, the Kopp family from Sinzheim-Ebenung in the northern Black Forest decided to expand their wine estate, which until then was already known for its excellent wines, with an equally exquisite restaurant. The owner came up with this idea years ago during a stay in South Africa. After a two-year construction period, the couple was able to inaugurate this concept September 2022 with the restaurant "Ebanat" and the new winery on the wine estate.
Like a massive cliff, the place rises impressively above the vineyard landscape. Skillfully incorporated into the architecture of the iron-patina-finished facade are features of the ferruginous soil of the wine region. Bright concrete elements and natural sandstone walls provide light contrasts. So does the multi-part screen system from sun protection manufacturer markilux that features cream-colored cloths. Since 2022, this system has provided shade for the terrace and the large windows of the dining room with its spectacular views of the vineyards and the Rhine plain.
"The architect of the building recommended us. For the owners of the wine estate, the quality of our products was ultimately an important criterion in choosing markilux," says Jan Kattenbeck, head of 'markilux project'. Due to the wind-sensitive location on the western side of the Fremersberg, near Baden-Baden, highly stable articulated awnings were required. The angle of inclination with respect to the sun also had to be freely adjustable. Eight individual screens from the markilux 5010 and 990 products were therefore used on the 35-meter-long covered terrace.
The color of the façade was chosen for the full cassettes of these screens, so that they form a whole with it. In contrast, the canvases look like an elegant nod to the fenestration, and they emphasize the strong contrast with the more earthy look of the building's exterior. Jan Kattenbeck finds this composition of material and color exceptionally exciting: "With the open, bright spatial concept of restaurant and wine shop, the wine estate offers its guests exquisite eating and drinking pleasure both inside and outside in a great atmosphere. We are therefore very pleased that our screens are part of this stylish experience space," is his conclusion.
