Inside a glass-filled villa in the south of France, the sun quickly creates soaring temperatures, and on the terrace the sun soon burns too hard. So for one of the villas at Domaine Du Prieuré in the south of France, Renson's help was called in.
The corner windows and large fenestration received Panovista Max and Fixscreen screen awnings, while an Aero slat roof was integrated on the terrace. The screens block the sun before it reaches the glass. The roof with the moving slats controls light and air flow on the terrace and keeps it dry in case of rain.
At Domaine Du Prieuré (2500 m²) there are ten unique villas. Architect Didier Frega was guided by the topography of the site to determine volumes, composition and spatial arrangement. "With the villas at Domaine Du Prieuré, I wanted to create architecture that steps out of its frame and context. Something exceptional. Each villa is an individual design that fits best in that place, but also in the whole."
At the villa that uses Renson screens for sun protection, Fixscreens were chosen for the tall windows and Panovista Max for the corner windows. The latter are the reason the owner and architect came to Renson. "We were looking for a solution to screen the large glass-on-glass and sliding door corner windows without impeding the panoramic view," said the owner. "That search led us to Renson's Panovista Max, which is windproof thanks to the zipper system on the corner, without the use of distracting guides."
"This house faces southwest, so after noon the sun is full on the terrace and the large windows," Didier Frega knows. "Outdoor blinds for a comfortable indoor climate and a solution for the terrace are then crucial. We immediately fell for the Aero slatted roof with its movable slats to regulate light and air flow. As a roof component, we were able to integrate it perfectly into the roof structure."
The integrated Aero slat roof covers a generous portion of the terrace. "That becomes a real outdoor room with the Aero slat roof," believes the resident, "especially since the terrace is finished with wind-resistant screens to be protected from the sun and wind on the side as well. We use the terrace almost all year round; it's practically my living space. I spend most of the day there. The terrace doesn't get excessively hot either, because closed the slats shelter from the sun and tilted they create a natural airflow that immediately feels pleasant."
"We are very satisfied with the Renson products installed," says the owner. "We appreciate their functionality as well as their aesthetics, in addition to the fact that they are easy to operate. We couldn't live without them anymore."
The ease of installation of the Renson products has been highly praised by the architect, carpenter and awning specialist alike. "Integrating the slatted roof was very easy," said Frega. "Renson perfectly tailored the Aero and provided all the necessary information to fit it into the design and install it quickly. The installation went flawlessly, in part because Renson had given our regular awning specialist brief training on both the screens and the slat roof."
