In the world of sun protection, precision is a crucial factor for success, they know at the Swiss company Plastex, which develops plastic solutions for the sun protection industry, among others. At the R+T, Z&R spoke with father and son Marco and Samuele Lombardini, about the details that make the difference and their participation as a regular partner in Serge Ferrari's Soltis Tour.
Plastex's mission is clear. The company wants to create the most advanced, personalized plastic solutions for the awning industry. At the last edition of the 2018 R+T, the company introduced the revolutionary ClipZip® system that ensures proper tensioning of the awning fabric. Anno 2024, Plastex has launched the updated AVIASTA System® and is working to realize a complete system that fulfills all the technical needs of the awning industry. At the Stuttgart trade fair, the company showed no fewer than five new patented products.
Full of enthusiasm, Marco Lombardini talks about developments within the company. Although he increasingly leaves the day-to-day operations to his son, most of the creative ideas come from him. "They come from curiosity," he says. "I like to think about how things can be done better. This is my passion. Often I draw my ideas on a piece of paper and our research department goes to work on them." This does Marco Lombardini have good ideas, as evidenced by the fact that Plastex now offers solutions to improve solar shading on many fronts.
ClipZip® now comes in four versions. The newest of these is the Push-In ClipZip®. This patented system can be pushed into the guide from above and ensures proper tension of the screen fabric along the entire length of the guide. AVIASTA® makes attaching the fabric to the motor tube easier and is now suitable for all types of screen fabrics. The Magis system is an intelligent 35 mm active side guide that fits perfectly with the ClipZip® system. With only two movements, the system can be completely dismantled, which not only facilitates installation but also increases installers' safety. The U-Flat is an extruded profile designed specifically for aluminum side guides for blinds and shutters. Finally, Boba+ was really on display for the first time at R+T. This innovation provides flexible attachment of the fabric to the bottom rail.
"We are very satisfied with the visitors we were able to meet at the fair," says Samuele Lombardini. "We achieved our objective, so the R+T was successful for us. We had many good conversations and can now bring out new partnerships with some of the biggest players in the market. They have understood that our products solve problems and we are moving forward as partners. This is something we are very proud of." So Plastex continues to evolve and a next goal is for its entire product range to become PVC-free in the near future. More on this in the next contribution from Plastex.
