News from Romazo: The industry association is certainly not sitting still!

Trade association Romazo is certainly not sitting still! Over the past year, for example, it has been considering a new marketing strategy. "After all, it is no longer just about keeping out the sun, but also about creating a comfortable living environment in the home or workplace," notes branch manager Jeroen de Roos. 

Numerous studies have shown that shading is the best way to prevent overheating in the home. Dr. ir. Lenneke Kuijer of TU Eindhoven conducted a study in homes in the Netherlands last summer, and it showed that by using blinds, homes heat up 5 to 9 degrees less and therefore less heat needs to be "cooled away. 

Plea for subsidy

Romazo is now calling for subsidies on solar shading. This is because in the context of energy transition, subsidies are given on solar panels, heat pumps and insulation, but not on blinds, while cooling with air conditioning requires an enormous amount of energy. A trial was conducted in Nieuwegein and Rotterdam with subsidies on solar shading. Romazo believes that this subsidy should be introduced in all municipalities in the Netherlands. "A lobby has now started and we have already been able to bind a number of parties to us, such as Milieu Centraal," says De Roos. "Milieu Centraal provides tips on its website about applying solar shading to prevent overheating." 

New logo

In addition, Romazo has chosen a new logo. Through the green color of the logo, the trade association wants to convey its commitment to sustainability. The Romazo board is working on a "branding book" that will be sent to all members in due course to roll out the new corporate identity. 

Board members sought

Many hands make light work! That is why the Romazo board is looking for new board members. "It is incredibly important that the sun protection industry has a strong industry association," believes the industry manager. "So if you are a member of Romazo and would like to contribute to the growth of the industry association, we would love to hear from you!"
