Screens nowadays often look inconspicuous. But according to markilux, they could also do with more of a summery and fresh look
Color trends come and go. However, the trend of "non-color tones" is persistent. Moreover, the quiet cream, gray and anthracite shades already have their place in the color universe. After all, they are subtle, go with just about everything and can therefore also be combined very well with strong accent colors. But in the long run, this trend does become a bit monotonous. Therefore, more color would suit the trend of outdoor living. This is also true for screen cloths, thinks textile designer Annette Busch from markilux.
With screen fabrics, only a handful of colors used to be dominant, usually with typical stripes. This also applied to markilux. But from the moment the sun protection specialist was able to define the colors of the polyester yarns for its screen cloths himself, completely new possibilities for design and color variety arose, according to textile designer Annette Busch. Thus a versatile and at the same time compact collection of awning fabrics was created to this day.
Furthermore, the company offers the "color on demand" service, with which almost any desired color can be realized on the screen cloth. But although the cloths are perfectly suited, given their surface area, to give the house and garden its own color, on the balcony and terrace, sober "non-color shades" such as white, beige, anthracite and, in particular, gray are predominant. "This trend started over a decade ago with expensive consumer goods such as cars and after a while also reached the awning industry," Busch said. Neutral colors are often considered more durable, which means products will sell better. But with screens, that's more of an exception. Some buyers also just look at what their neighbors have and choose an inconspicuous color. In part, there is simply a lack of good advice when it comes to choosing a fabric that meets one's needs.
On the other hand, there is the general desire for individual design, with which people can distinguish themselves from others. "That's why the theme of "color variety" has been on our minds for years. And that is why we also offer vibrant colors, such as yellow, orange, red, pink or summery green shades," says the textile designer. In this way, the company can always meet specific needs and shows its professionalism that has grown over the years. Moreover, she believes that color is very important to our lives, since color has an effect on our well-being. Light, unobtrusive colors obviously also have a permanent place in the color universe, as they have a calming effect. And in part these colors are also chosen, but powerful accent colors are added.
"But there is no such thing when shades of gray clearly dominate. This creates a gloomy, uninspiring atmosphere. We want to create a world of colors on the terrace and in the garden that contrasts with gray rainy days and gives energy," says Annette Busch. But for some time now she has noticed that color is coming back into play, both in the fashion and furnishing industries. "I don't know if this is where wish is father to thought. After all, there are so many more colors in the color spectrum than gray," Busch continues. She always advises people, when buying a screen, to imagine the canvas on a large surface and think about what is important to someone in the process. Which color makes one feel good. Especially since the choice of color also determines, how much light can penetrate into the interior. As a compromise, light, soft colors are suitable. "These are not neutral, nor colorless or gray. But also not garish or gaudy," says the professional. But ultimately everyone must decide for themselves which fabric color is the right one. markilux sees itself as a service provider here and will always flexibly accommodate the customer's preferences. However, the designer himself would like the world to become a bit more colorful again and be allowed to shine more from within. That would perhaps also be good for the overall mood.
