Singer Jaap Reesema and his wife Kim Kötter moved into their dream home on the Loosdrecht lakes in 2023. A major renovation took place before they could move in. The spacious garden, the reason Jaap and Kim fell in love with the house, was also given a major makeover. In awning expert Harol, Jaap and Kim found a great partner to create a lovely terrace. Jaap and Kim's new home has a unique design. "That called for a custom patio solution," says Joris Draelants, Technical Director of Harol." Jaap and Kim had the desire to create an attractive, shaded area. Maximum light in the house was a requirement. With the Brera, the slatted roof can slide fully open and closed. This allows you to enjoy maximum light and close the slats for more shade at the push of a button. For Jaap and Kim the ideal solution."

Jaap and Kim's Brera slat roof is built into the patio roof to integrate the patio cover with the home as much as possible. "By building the slat roof onto the house, you create an extension of your home," Draelants says. "Our Harol installers sat around the table with the architect to discuss aspects such as foundation, roof structure, anchoring and roof finish. Based on this, we created a customized solution. Thus, the slat roof fits perfectly with the architecture of the house, as far as I am concerned with a beautiful result!" 

Screens for optimal comfort

Harol offers a wide selection of upgrades to expand the patio covers, Draelants said. "Jaap mentioned that during the summer months they suffer a lot from insects, such as midges. Screens are a good solution for that. More than six months after installing the Brera slat roof, we expanded the patio solution with our Harol Coolscreens. Not only do they keep insects at bay, but also the low sun in early spring and they provide extra protection in wind and rain. Jaap and Kim can completely close off their terrace with the integrated screens. In doing so, they retain sufficient light and visibility, so they can always enjoy their beautiful view."
