For many people, a home with lots of light is their number one wish. This is not surprising, because natural daylight creates a pleasant atmosphere, gives an energetic feeling and has a positive effect on well-being. But a lot of light also causes heat in the home and that is not comfortable. Harol then presents its new Coolscreen collection as the solution. "With their energy-efficient and minimalist designs, these screens bring cooling and protection from heat, thus contributing to higher living comfort," says Harol CEO Annick Draelants.
The latest Harol Coolscreen collection consists of five different types. Each Coolscreen has its own specific characteristics. For example, there is a classic zipscreen with compact round or square front case, a version with dimmable LED lighting and a Coolscreen that works entirely on solar energy.
Harol has designed the Coolscreen collection to provide maximum and responsible cooling to any building or home. That this has not gone unnoticed is evidenced by the fact that the entire Coolscreen collection won a Red Dot Award in the Product Design category in 2023. Proudly, Annick Draelants explains that the jury praised the combination of sustainable design, smart functionalities and strong technology. Moreover, the Coolscreen 8 Solar, the solar-powered screen, was awarded two Archiproducts Awards for Product Design and for Sustainability. "This shows that the Coolscreen 8 Solar is a paragon of minimalist eco-design," Draelants said.
The new Coolscreens form a natural buffer against overheating in the summer months and provide extra insulation in the winter. As a result, the Coolscreen reduces energy consumption and increases living comfort. "We are enormously honored to receive the Red Dot Award and both our Archiproducts Awards for our Coolscreens," says Annick Draelants. "As an innovative player in natural cooling, we like to reach out for sustainable solutions. The Coolscreen collection represents a new generation of screens, where we not only block out the sun in an energy-efficient way, but also focus on sustainable design from the initial design. These awards are a nice recognition of our efforts in the field of innovation, design and sustainability."
New construction or renovation? The Coolscreens are mounted on the outside of the window and are therefore easy to install, without major cutting or breaking work. This makes them ideally suited for houses and apartments, as well as residential care centers and hospitality applications. Moreover, Harol has designed the Coolscreen collection with a minimum of parts for ease of installation. Installation is completely 'clickable' as the parts are not glued together. This allows all parts to be easily taken apart at the end of the life cycle, reused in the circular economy and contributing to a sustainable society.
"Coolscreens have minimal fabric wear and quiet operation thanks to Harol's optimized X-Glide Technology," adds Annick Draelants. "Moreover, the screens are produced using 100% green energy, thanks to the Harol wind turbine that supplies green power to our entire business park and all production facilities!"
The innovative and durable design of the Harol Coolscreen collection also stands out, Annick Draelants believes. "The screens have extra narrow guides, an invisible weld seam and the bottom bar disappears completely into the case. The screwless design provides a sleek look. For every home and every architectural style, there is a suitable Coolscreen within the new collection." The screens are fully customized and can therefore be integrated into any facade. The type, color and all options can be determined by the end user. This way there is one collection with a lot of different possibilities.
