"Terraces are increasingly serving as additional living space. Especially with a terrace awning, you can enjoy a comfortable atmosphere even in the middle of summer," observes co-owner Peter van der Kamp of Genemuiden-based awning manufacturer Husol. In this regard, Husol - partner of the Austrian Wo&Wo Sunlight Design - has something to offer sun protection dealers. "Thanks to a maximum projection of 7 m and a product width of up to 6 m, our new series of conservatory and patio awnings is ideally suited for large terraces," Van der Kamp believes.
Previously, PBS was the Dutch partner of Wo&Wo Sunlight Design. After the bankruptcy of PBS, the Austrian sunshade manufacturer started looking for a new Dutch partner. That was found in Husol. "For the sun protection specialists in the Netherlands, it is good to know that Wo&Wo products are available again," says Peter van der Kamp. By this he is referring especially to the new series of conservatory and terrace awnings, which includes the types XLINE, PERGO-LINE and XLIGHT.
With both the PERGO-LINE and the XLINE, exceptional dimensions of up to 7 m extension and a product width of up to 6 m are possible. "To ensure constant fabric tension at these sizes, there is a special counter-pressure system in the construction, built up by leaf springs in the top tube. This ensures that the fabric is equally taut in all positions," Van der Kamp explains. "The counter-pressure system works in combination with a zip rail system, an innovative and stable guide connection by means of a zipper between fabric and guide. These zip guides with damping springs prevent damage from wind gusts and the fabric is therefore also more resistant to weathering."
The special feature of the PERGO-LINE pergola awning is primarily that it brings shade to large patio areas without the need for an underlying support structure. "Assembly is done with two adjustable wall supports for the cassette and two uprights anchored to the ground with a base plate," explains Van der Kamp. "A common problem with patio awnings is that when the sun is low, the patio gets too little shade. An inventive solution has been devised for this as well: the PERGO-LINE addresses this by allowing for a roof overhang beyond the uprights of up to 1.2 m. As a result, the shade area can be significantly increased."
The XLIGHT is also suitable for shading large canopies and other spaces. Van der Kamp: "This awning product is specially made for mounting the fabric under the glass. This protects the fabric from weather influences. Moreover, applications of sun protection under the glass are a modern addition to the glass architecture. The construction of the glass does not play a role here, by the way."
An additional special feature of the XLINE conservatory awning, the third type in the new series, is that it can also be mounted vertically. "The advantage of this is that even large window areas can be adequately shaded by the fabric tensioning technique used. And if required, the XLINE can also be mounted so that the fabric moves from bottom to top," Van der Kamp concludes.
