Copaco Screenweavers: triple recertification Cradle to Cradle

Cradle to Cradle Certification helps companies to continuously improve the sustainability aspects of their products, working toward a more sustainable future for all. The word "continuously" is crucial here because Cradle to Cradle Certified certification is not the end goal. Instead, it is the starting point of a long-term commitment to do better and better. 

Certification is valid for only two years, after which new certification must follow. More stringent criteria are applied with each renewed certification. This encourages companies to keep improving their product design and production processes. 

C2C Platform has reviewed two Copaco Screenweavers products on several occasions since 2014, namely: 

- Ulterio - An indoor shading fabric based on recyclable materials. The screens are made from 100% recycled PET bottles. In addition, the fabrics are PVC-free and the entire product process is environmentally friendly.

- Zilario - The same awning fabric as Ulterio, but coated on the back with a thin layer of aluminum. As a result, more than 60% of direct sunlight and heat is reflected. Zilario blinds maximize energy efficiency by preventing the transfer of hot or cold temperatures between interior and exterior. 

In 2014, and again in 2017 and 2019, Copaco Screenweavers achieved the Bronze level of Cradle to Cradle Certified certification for both product series. The 2014 certification was an application of version 3.0 of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard. The recertifications were an application of version 3.1. 

In March 2022, Copaco Screenweavers and C2CPlatform succeeded in certifying Ulterio and Zilario Bronze for the fourth time. In addition, products for the Material Health and Water and Soil Management categories were assessed against version 4.0 of the product standard, the most ambitious standard to date.
