Copaco produces a wide range of screen fabrics, ranging from fabrics for indoor and outdoor sun protection and from blockout fabrics to insect netting. "The latter was at the root of the company's growth from the beginning and eventually indirectly led Copaco to also enter the market of awning fabric made of plasticized fiberglass," says marketing manager Veronique Kindt of Copaco Sreenweavers. "With 70% of production destined for export, Copaco enjoys global fame as a major player in the awning and insect mesh market."
"Fiberglass insect netting is ideal for places where there is a lot of walking in and out," Veronique Kindt continues. "This is because it is resistant to denting and sagging, even if it is treated a little rougher at times. With its durable PVC coating, fiberglass is strong and durable. Moreover, it cannot oxidize or rot and is particularly UV resistant."
Soft mesh or soft mesh is mainly used in professional processing for fixed frames, where the mesh is rolled in and stretched with a rubber tendon. This mesh is easier to manipulate and is less likely to tear. "Stiff" mesh or hard mesh is used for roller screens and roller systems, where the hardness when rolled up provides greater stability and the mesh stays in place better."
This mesh is resistant to pets, for example, pets with sharp nails that can damage or even tear the insect mesh. Veronique Kindt recommends Xtra screen in those cases. "This material is durable, can hardly tear and is not harmful to pets. Therefore, it is not only excellent for screens in windows and doors, but also for fencing terraces and verandas. An additional advantage is that Xtra Screen offers excellent transparency."
Copaco's pre-eminent success product is Bellavista insect netting, which does not stand out, according to Veronique Kindt. "Bellavista insect netting offers optimal transparency and is barely visible. Thinner yarns, a black color and greater density ensure optimal transparency. Where gray insect netting used to be the standard, black Bellavista netting is now proving to be more and more the norm."
Copaco sees insect mesh as a fixture for the future. Developments such as the growing importance of ventilation and the rise of tropical insects such as the tiger mosquito contribute to this. Ecological insect screens of all kinds are the solution. Copaco gladly contributes to this with its various insect screens.
