For BUILDING SHUTTERS everything started in 1973 with the production of sheet metal and plastic profiles. Later finished shutters with plastic slats were added. Today aluminum plays an important role in the company and screens have been added to the product range. But the passion has remained!
"Good personal relationships, customer attention and service have been core values of our company from the beginning," said Jean-Pierre Suys founder of the company and father of current CEO Thibaut Suys. "BUILDING SHUTTERS is a family business according to the best Belgian traditions. Produced in Belgium - made in Belgium - is something we are particularly proud of and continue to promote."
"Ever since our founding, we have been a well-known player in the plastics processing market," hooks Thibaut Suys. "As mentioned, at some point the production of roller shutters was added to that. But plastic roller shutters are less and less in demand and aluminum has become more and more important. That's why we started focusing more and more on aluminum processing and the production of aluminum roller shutters, solar screens and aluminum cladding."
Change is good, but why change what is good? That's why BUILDING has stuck to traditional values, such as a personal touch, craftsmanship and good value for money, for 50 years.
In the Belgian home market, BUILDING SHUTTERS delivers its finished finished products to end customers through a network of selected dealers, according to marketing manager Femke Desmet. "We work exclusively with experienced and well-trained dealers to provide the end customer with appropriate and reliable advice and answer all their questions. In all other countries, we sell profiles and components to professional customers who process them into finished products. By offering our customers first-line support, we help and encourage them to be perfect ambassadors for our products! In the end, it's all about personal service and personal contact!"
At BUILDING SHUTTERS, they emphasize that quality is not an empty concept for them. "We maintain high quality standards and therefore continue to invest in research and development, in our machinery and in the training of our people," stresses Thibaut Suys. "We rely on fifty years of experience and the expertise we have built up over that time. 'Made in Belgium' is a seal of quality for us. We expect our dealers in Belgium and customers abroad to go along with our quality thinking. As down-to-earth Flemings, we have stood for a nononsense approach with honest and transparent pricing for our entire company history."
The word "sustainability" comes up a lot these days. If you don't shout it, you're out of the game anyway. But shouting is not enough, they think at BUILDING SHUTTERS. "Sustainability has to be done!", says Thibaut Suys. "That starts with our products. Our aim is to ensure that end users can enjoy carefree products with a long service life for many years: sustainable. Our products help save heating and cooling energy: sustainable. In addition, we are increasingly working with aluminum that is long-lasting and recyclable: sustainable. We have invested in a 100% green paint shop that is energy efficient and allows painting without chemical additives: sustainable. A we have completely covered the roof of our Nokere facility with solar panels to generate our own electricity: sustainable.
We have already seen a part of the development of the product range of BUILDING SHUTTERS: from plastic longlights and slats to roller shutters. Then aluminum roller shutters were added, a product group in which BUILDING is now one of the leading players in the Benelux. Another addition are slats for aluminum roller shutters. In the area of roller shutters, BUILDING has for some time now included the much sought-after solar drives in its product range.
Meanwhile, a complete range of screens as sunshades and/or for privacy and/or blackout are also available, ranging from front-mounted to surface-mounted or built-in screens. Of course, solar screens are also an option. In order to guarantee tight screen cloths, BUILDING has developed the Lockscreen® technology to ensure that the screen cloth is always wrinkle-free tight.
The most recent addition to the range concerns the aluminum cladding BUILDING Facade, to complete the range of products for the facade. "For now, because of course you never know what the future will bring," laughs Thibaut Suys. "It's all about passion! That slogan sums up for us what we stand for as a company and what makes us stand out."
