BUILDING is now SUYS!

BUILDING SHUTTERS is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary which will not go unnoticed. Numerous events are planned, for customers, press, suppliers ... And on October 1, in the framework of Open Bedrijvendag in Belgium, there will be an open day in large format, where about a thousand private visitors are expected. "After all, it is a unique milestone and we want to celebrate it in a big way," CEO Thibaut Suys says. "In addition, it is the perfect opportunity to send an important announcement into the world. BUILDING SHUTTERS will in fact continue under the name SUYS."

"Our company was founded in Waregem in 1973 as a family business and we still are," continues marketing manager Femke Desmet. "By now we are a leading player in the roller shutters and blinds market and we are proud to celebrate our golden jubilee with the second generation of the Suys family at the helm. Our new name SUYS is a concise, powerful name and a family name that fully reflects our personal and no-nonsense approach. The name change is part of a brand transition, with which we want to increase our brand awareness and our strength as a family business." 

Fifty years of comfort, safety and durability

Half a century ago, Jean-Pierre Suys founded Building Plastics. It started with plastic sheet and profiles (i.e. slats and cabinet profiles) and finished PVC shutters. Over the years, the product range has grown with the market and the share of aluminum profiles has increased. The range has further expanded over time to include roller shutters, screens and cladding. Quality products, always with an eye on living comfort, safety and energy-efficient living. 

"The addition Plastics to our name had long since ceased to be representative of the sustainable products we offer," said Thibaut Suys. "Years ago, the company was therefore renamed BUILDING SHUTTERS. We are specialists in the production of aluminum and plastic profiles for roller shutters. And we also make turnkey roller shutters, screens and roller gates, from A to Z in-house, as well as in Belgium. Something we have been rightly proud of for fifty years!" 

Fifty years of entrepreneurship and progress

What began in a small factory building in the center of Waregem is now continued in a 41,000 m² production hall in Nokere. Growth has been steady, and BUILDING SHUTTERS has first been located at two other sites before settling in Nokere in 2006. "We still have expansion opportunities here and we also have some options behind us in the long term," says Thibaut Suys. "We still see a lot of growth potential, invest fully in the future and strive to do this in a sustainable way." 

BUILDING has always been a pioneer in this field. For example, on the roof of our premises there have been as many as 4,500 solar panels since 2009. "Not only do we manufacture sustainable products that contribute to lower energy consumption, we also continuously invest ourselves in the realization of self-sufficient facilities and an environmentally friendly and low-energy production process. It is our conviction that 'doing things sustainably' is not a new trend, but rather a foundation for contemporary and responsible business." 

"We are SUYS!

BUILDING SHUTTERS will henceforth be called SUYS. Femke Desmet explains that the necessary thinking preceded this. "As a company we operate according to a number of values, such as our Flemish sobriety, personal service, sustainability and craftsmanship. 'It's all about passion' is the slogan that encompasses all that. It reflects our years of expertise, our typical Belgian products and our dedicated employees. We use it to emphasize the passion that we, as a family business, have been propagating for decades. The name SUYS sums it all up. We are SUYS! Our new name short and clear, it exudes confidence in the future. The rebranding to SUYS should allow us to position ourselves more strongly as a brand and appeal to a wider target audience," Femke Desmet believes. 

The look and feel of the new identity also appears simple and to the point. The familiar blue-gray combination is being replaced by a corporate identity in sleek black and striking red. A very conscious choice, according to the marketing manager. "As with the name, we are equally going for strength and charisma with the design by choosing convincing and energetic colors. The picture is right with that."
