The purpose of designing outdoor spaces today is not only to provide shade or protection, but also to create additional living space. Modern privacy and shading systems form a link between homes and gardens. Serge Ferrari makes this concrete through the application of Soltis Veozip fabrics for the window and terrace of a German home.
"Our cloths ensure a pleasant climate both in the heat of summer and on less pleasant days with rain or wind," says David Digilio, Solar Protection Manager Europe. "Thanks to their dirt-repellent, smooth surface, Soltis solar protection fabrics are resistant to mold and easy to clean. They do not distort and guarantee long-term color fastness against UV rays: for a long-lasting, perfect look."
Lisa and Sven Stadler, who live in Rhineland-Palatinate with their dog, had seen a Soltis canvas at a friend's house before they moved into a late 1960s bungalow. "I immediately fell in love with the spacious, sunny garden," Lisa says. "My husband uses our pool year-round, and when friends come to visit, we enjoy relaxing hours on the patio together." The pool, however, had an unforeseen effect. "We quickly realized that the water in the pool would make the patio even brighter and sunnier, so we started looking for blinds to mitigate this effect."
In the end, the Stadler family chose Soltis Veozip in the color "frost white. It is used for the house and as a vertical awning on the terrace, for privacy and protection from the sun. "At first we couldn't decide on the color because we liked almost all of them, but in the end the neutral white shade won out. It matches very well with the natural stone slabs on our terrace. The natural and friendly look fits our living taste perfectly."
The awning blocks 92% of light and, when combined with triple-glazing 96% of heat. The fabric also protects against the wind, which often blows across the open grounds in the fall. When residents want to change quickly after a day at the pool, the roller blind provides privacy without being in the dark. The screens are easily controlled with the Smart Home system, which can also be used on the go with a remote control or cell phone.
"What I especially like about the Soltis Veozip is that it is so flexible," says Lisa Stadler. "When the sun shines in our garden, as an editor I can still work quietly outside on my laptop without being blinded." With Soltis Veozip, the hemp fibers integrated into the PVC composition create a natural and textile look. The fabric also has very high stability and durability without warping or wrinkling, according to Serge Ferrari.
