With its latest model, the markilux 900, sun protection specialist markilux from Emsdetten aims to enthuse balcony owners about its design products. "This subtle yet high-quality clamp awning features articulated arms and a full cassette," explains Director of Production and Technology Michael Gerling. "The screen requires little space, can be assembled and disassembled without major construction effort, and also offers an unobstructed view even in full shade."
It is not always easy to implement an awning system that provides full shade on a balcony. This is why markilux is launching a new product with the markilux 900. The screen can be fixed between the floor and ceiling via a clamping mechanism with two support tubes and, according to Gerling, gives any balcony a graceful charm. "It is the first model of this type that has articulated arms and a low-maintenance full cassette, which, by the way, is available in three frame colors. With all its advantages, it is very suitable for tenants and apartment owners in cities and densely populated areas. This product can also be of interest to housing corporations or housing associations and to construction companies."
"The new technical approach with our clamping system offers some advantages," Gerling explains. "For unlike conventional drop-down awnings that can be attached in a similar way, with this system the fabric is protected from dirt in a slim, fully enclosed cassette, which means it stays nice for longer. Moreover, due to its special design, this screen can provide full shade on the balcony even at an inclination of 5°. This leaves an unobstructed view of the surroundings. With the current, conventional models, full shading usually requires an inclination angle of about 45°, while then, due to the combination with the drop arms, the free view is considerably obstructed! But if there is a need for a lot of privacy, a specialist partner can also adjust the inclination angle of the new screen to up to 70°."
Thanks to the clamping mechanism with adjustable force, whereby the support tubes are fastened with just a few screws, the wall or ceiling fastening usual for articulated awnings is not needed. "This allows the awning to be fixed quickly and easily," Gerling emphasizes. "In addition, the support tubes can be secured to the balcony railing at higher levels. When moving house, for example, everything can also be dismantled again very easily. The screen can then simply be taken with you. This could possibly contribute to tenants being more inclined to purchase. What will also help here is that the new Markilux 900 clamp awning, with its slim appearance and the low cassette height of just 10 cm, has a subtle effect. If desired and structurally possible, however, the screen can also be attached to the ceiling of the balcony with special supports as an alternative to a classic clamp awning."
"Not only did we pay attention to a modern, lightweight design, but we also paid attention to the best material quality for all components, which ensures a long service life," Gerling continued. "The cassette and support tubes, for example, are powder-coated and are thus resistant to weathering for years. And for the movable hinge legs of the tubes, which can be adapted to the surface, a cover is available that protects screws or seals and makes them invisible."
With a width of 2 to 4 m and a projection of 1.5 or 2 m, the sizes are tailored to classic balcony dimensions. The same applies to the standing height, which can vary between 235 and 265 cm. The new markilux 900 is available with manual operation with crank rod or with a convenient motor drive, which is not often the case with drop awnings. Another plus according to Gerling are the bionic tendons that provide special stability for the articulated arms. These tendons consist of load-bearing high-tech fibers. "With our markilux 900, we are serving an increasing demand for effective heat protection also on the balcony," concludes Gerling. "And with great practicality and design quality. We therefore think and expect that there will be a lot of interest in this new product."
